Robert Meadows is the CEO of Wood Flooring Contractors,Inc. Robert was born in the small town of Cedartown, Ga in 1949. Roberts father Edward Vernon "EV" Meadows came back from World War II as a Telephone Communications Lineman to find his love for cabinet and floor refinishing. Soon EV began getting into gymnasium floors and it all started from there. Robert was introduced to gymnasiums at age 13 from his father and worked with him thru the mid 60's, And from this point his journey began to establish his primary career with athletic flooring. Robert installed, sanded and finished over 7 million sq ft of maple in the USA thru the 70's and 80's and by the time he made it thru the 90's he said he lost count?? Lol.. He had his own semi-truck to pick up maple flooring from the manufacturer in Dollar Bay, MI and deliver to his projects. Robert was a trouble shooter and rep for Horner Sports Flooring during the 70's, 80's & 90's & the beginning of early 2000. He was a member of the MFMA since the early 70's and has old stories that are to this day very interesting and unbelievable. Robert purchased one of the first 3 Floor Mack Ryder's sets that came out in the industry. Believe it or not, as of today that same machine is still in wonderful shape and sanding our gymnasium floors today! Robert had one of the best and biggest athletic sports floor companies growing during the 70's, 80's, 90's in the Southeast United States. Robert and Diane has 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. Robert has served over 50 years in the Athletic Sports Floor industry and has raised all his kids to know everything he knows in the industry. As of today all 6 of the kids run the company "3rd Generation", and of coarse Robert is still in it and still comes to every single job to look at the floors and makes sure the quality, workmanship, and his love for every floor is superb and sparkling!
Robert is 65 today, loves being on every gym floor we do, and most anyone in our industry has heard and has known of Robert Meadows. Robert also worked 25 years with George D. Bridges, George had Bridges Wood Division, the biggest wood and athletic products in the Southeast United States, then sold it to William M. Bird soon after retiring.
Robert Meadows is a wonderful dad, father, husband, "floor man", and a icon to the athletic sports floor industry.
This story is from all 6 of Roberts kids and we hope to be a part of your future athletic flooring project, and you will get the same quality and workmanship as Robert Meadows gave all his 50 years of service.
From Our Family To Yours,
God Bless :)
